Winter tristesse

The weather has been gloomy for days, and it puts me in the mood to wear black and brown, which is actually one of my favorite color combinations. Love the way the somber and subdued Dip Dye Carré matches the melancholic scenery outside the window :-)

  5. Also a fan of black/brown; also chose this c/w of the Dip-Dyed Brides so I was charmed to see your chic self advocating same!

When I tried it at the boutique I knew it would be a go-to alternative on a day where I wasn't looking for a dose of color or a punchy pattern...more like understated elegance in color, pattern & even texture.

I also like this one as a "belt"!

  7. Mai Tai -These colours together w you are so rich and yummy - I'm reminded of one of my families favorite cakes I make called Chocolate Suicide - chocolate fudge cake covered in ganache! DS always wants one for his BDay which is on Friday! I think I just might have to find a BdG in this CW to coordinate with dessert. LOL!!!

  8. FauxFuchsia, Victoria, DD and Maisie, thank you for your lovely compliments. xox

FauxFuchsia, I am ususally pretty quick.. in the mornings every minute counts!

Victoria, great to be Dip Dye twins! I love it of the same reason as you, must try the belt look too.

    DD, you are the sweetest!

Maisie, happy Birthday to your DS! The cake sounds td4 (no pun intended, lol) and yes, the brown Dip Dye is THE perfect scarf to go with it!

  9. I have an idea, mai tai. To appeal to (and show solidarity with) the wider blog reading populace, can you possibly post a just few pics of you with a MASSIVE grin and some spinach stuck in your teeth? ok... just ONE where you look a bit blotchy/puffy or the scarf does not QUITE go with something or looks like you might have pulled it out of a laundry basket full of boys' rugby kit waiting to be washed? ;)

  10. Too funny, marmite! I could of course snap a pic on the morning of a massive hangover, but in the end, I think everyone would be grateful not to be subjected to it ;-)

  13. Dear DB, I love the tone too, it's so sombre and rich.. perfect for those days where one just wants the scarf to melt in.

Welcome to my blog, Foulards de Soie, and thank you for the kind compliment. It's nice to get to know fellow addicts! :-)

  14. ITA for the "blending in" comment on this particular scarf in terms of colorway, design, and silk finish.

The day I brought mine home I was helping a friend purchase her first H scarf (she took home the hot pink Femme Au Semelles-gorgeous and a bright, statement-type scarf!) and I could feel some shoppers looking askance at the choice I was making next to hers...next to the Femme in hot pink, it didn't look like much...but yes, there is a dark, quiet elegance and understatement and it is so wonderful that not all scarves are all things to all women...this is why we need (justify?!) having such a varied (large? expensive?) collection, ha ha!

  15. IMHO I love the understated elegance of these rich and muted colours. I have La Femmes in same B/W/G CW as Mait Tai and it also speaks to me in this way. For me, it's how I feel - some days hot pink and others, rich and quietly elegant. The joy of there being som many CWs and designs n'est ce pas?

  16. Victoria, loved your story. It could have been me, lol! Not long ago, my DH bought me a beautiful enamel, very luxurious and fabulous, in turquoise with a gold rim. I knew I would never wear it, but nearly wanted to keep it anyway, just so that I could stare at it's beauty. But I went to exchange it, into the most 'boring' one on the rack. A black/blue/silver with the chaine d'ancre motif. Hubby looked quite shocked! Needless to say that I absolutely love it and that I'm wearing it all the time!

  17. The joy of being a woman, Maisie! You are so right, and Victoria said is so well too, thank god for diversity. It is such fun to play, and IMO, accessories are the best wardrobe friends. And if they are H accessories, they are of course our VERY best friends :D
