H it Up ~ Black Birkin as a summer bag?

Yesterday, I chatted with a couple of lovely ladies about bag styles/leathers/colours, always a fun topic to discuss. My dear friend M was inquiring if I ever wear my black Birkin during summer, as she has not seen it in any recent pics. And she is right, I have not reached for it much, as a big black leather bag felt a bit too overwhelming to carry in the hot temperatures we had recently. Inspired by the lovely M, I took Ms Birkin out today, teaming her up with summery white, and a little bit more black. Thank you, darling M, for the inspiration!

H-ing it Up 3/4 length white trousers and a black tank (almost capsule pieces) with a Vif Argent Gavroche in a simple loop knot, black clic bracelet and black Birkin. Also wearing black suede ballet flats and mesh silver bracelet.
Scarf ring: MaiTai Collection (honey moyenne)
Scarf tying method: Simple loop. Click here for a how-to

PS. By mistake, I have deleted this post, and all the comments that were attached to it. I am so very sorry, dear ladies. I did have the chance to read them when they came in, and as always you have brought happiness and sunshine with your lovely words. Thank you all, and sorry for not being able to come back individually to you this time.

PPS. Also apologising to all email subscribers. After deleting this entry, I reposted it, which means that you are probably going to receive it again. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

  1. Not to worry, dearest MaiTai. I know all too well how easy it is to click the wrong button, only to sit and watch and wish I could take it back... Anyway, it will be double the pleasure to receive the email again - the most fun and beautiful email in my inbox! It is you who bring so much joy into my everyday with your shining goodness and beauty - not to mention how much I've learned from you! Warm hugs, xx

  2. LOL! I am glad I am not the only one who clicks the wrong button.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one wearing a black birkin in the summer.

    Is yours a 30 or 35?

  3. I'm with Sheila, cause I carry my black birkin every day. MT and I are bag twins - a 35 black togo with palladium, right, Tai?

  4. Oh, I am so glad I am not the only one hitting the wrong button, and thank you for coming back with such reassuring and sweet comments, my dear Scarf Enthusiast and lovely Sheila! I feel less bad now, you ladies are the best! Warm hugs to both of you xx

PS. Sheila, mine is a 35.

We are twins right down to the hardware, dear Joanne! With you and Sheila on board, let's plan a BB summer party! ;-)

  5. I'm just a cousin. Mine is 35 PHW but it's CdC.

I see comments about certain colors being seasonal and other comments about tiny girls in the stars thread having the bag carry her rather than the other way around and I wonder sometimes if it's too big for me.

Your pics reassure me it's NOT too big!

  6. Now where are those emoticons, when you need them? Seriously thinking about having a "talk" with those blogger-people on adding smileys to the post function. :-) Just in case, anybody is wondering why I'm blabbering on about emoticons instead of MaiTais tremendously chic black and white number - here's the reason: I'm jumping up and down like a rubber ball, beaming and grinning all over my face because lovely MT calls me a dear friend and not only that - she was also ever so graceful to say, that my simple question gave her an inspiration. Like, yeah right - lady, you don't need inspiration, you are one! <3, Macs

  7. Aww, with a CdC BB you are my posh cousin, dear Sheila! Re the size, it depends so much on the proportions you feel comfortable in, and the main purpose of the bag (Handbag vs Tote) I general, I think dark and neutral colors make the 35 appear smaller, which is one of the reasons I chose black for mine. Yours looks absolutely fabulous on you!

Welcome back, my dear MSH, so nice to see you again! Your holiday sounds divine, what can be more fun than sharing lovely long meals with family and friends by the ocean, bliss!! Hope your trips to H were fruitful, and great to hear about your black Birkin being such a fab travel companion. Welcome to our little BB Summer Party! Hugs x

Kisses and hugs to you, my dear and sweet friend Macs! As always, I very much enjoyed our chat, and with the wonderful outcome, we should talk bags more often, hehe! Miss the emoticons too, so here are two written out for you :hugs: :smooch:

  15. The combination is great! ou can't go wrong with black and white. I've found that i'm reaching for my raisin birkin quite a bit this delightfully steamy summer and i like it although it does feel heavier in the heat for some reason!

  16. Merci, dear CashmereLibrarian!

Hi A, the ballet flats are not by Hermès, and yes, I usually don't mention the brands of non H items :-)

I'd like to hear more about your steamy summer, darling dogbiskit! I bet you look ultra hot with Ms Raisin, rock on, my dear! Hugs x
