The shapes and colours below are just indications, a blazer or cardie can be long or short, jeans can be boot-cut, loose or skinny, tank tops could be replaced by t-shirts, and shirts can be fitted, loose or tunic style... whatever suits the individual body shape and coloring best.

Again applauding your organization. You wrote this up so nicely and logical - it really is a perfect manual for those, who want to simplify their wardrobe and a smile giving reminder to the others (us ;-), who are sometimes tempted to buy more and then stick to the trusted pieces after all. Regarding the black - not to worry! As much as I'm trying to wear more colour myself, I still don't like the "rule" that in the summer everything has to be bright, light and happy. You look ravishing in black, as we could just see on your trip to Cannes. So go, MT, and show us great ways to sometimes dress sans (or with less) colour. :-) xox, Macs
ReplyDeleteThanks for your inspiration! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMany stores in my city would be grateful to you for your capsule-pieces approach, as I have been visiting them for many months and shopping on a very regular basis. If I did not find the capsule-blouse, I bought a capsule-T-shirt instead and so on. It is a fabulous concept, as I can dress so easily now, nothing missing and no headache to make a combination which will work. A scarf atop of it makes the final impact, some more decent accessories...that's it. The concept is so good. Thank you, have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI would love to simplify my wardrobe like this and really make it work for me, I have so many oddbod garments that I don't like/ wear.
ReplyDeleteThis is my aim now for every season!
This capsule update is spot on in so many ways. First of of all, with the change of seasons we are all evaluating the options in our closets. And next ITA with Macs about the reminder to simplify. I have been on a mission to take my closet down to only those basics, that you have so beautifully arranged for us. This could be called Zen and the Art of Closet Maintenance...catchy title!
ReplyDeleteThe style sheets can also serve as a great guide for packing;)
I join the black pack for wearing in the summer and year round.it makes lif e so easy and provides a perfect canvas for H accessories.
Necklaces,bracelets, MT TV,updated style sheets..oh,my!
You spoil us all dear friend. For that and for you I am grateful<3 Warm summer hugs and sending energy through the cyber waves to keep you going at this breakneck pace, T xx
This is such an inspiration! I'm going to use this as a template to organize my own wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteMaiTai... You hit this out of the park. My closet is starting to look like this already. Summer has come here full force in the southern states of Amercia. The forecast for today is 98 degrees. These pieces will be needed daily. Thanks my friend. Have a great week ahead. Blessings -P
ReplyDeleteP.S. Sorry for such a lengthy comment above! Comment it was not..looked like the beginnings of a dissertation !!
ReplyDeleteHowever, how on earth do we apply this same process to our SHOES? Yikes! T xx
Go Black!!! Never have enough. A great way to add brights is with your shoe and/or handbag, I picked up a pair of framboise espadrilles that I will wear until they fall apart:) I seem to have a new appreciation of wearing a white pant with a black top which is the reverse of the usual. Either way, the perfect backdrop for a great scarf or necklace.
ReplyDeleteSometimes in the morning I stare at my wardrobe not knowing what to wear besides all the clothes hanging there. I will follow your precious lessons, my dear MaiTai, sticking to the basic style sheets. Thank you for helping me organize and simplify my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week ahead, Warm hugs, M.
Since you've gone to such an great effort in posting the capsule wardrobe style sheets (many thanks), I hesitate to ask but would you please consider a very brief identification of the items. I can's tell if you have 2 pairs of white jeans or 1 pair of white jeans and some ankle length.
ReplyDeleteJust some simple i.d. so that in the future we could know what you are describing. This is very helpful for getting the streamlined, working closet I want.
Hello, again
ReplyDeleteWhere I wrote "besides" I meant "despite of". Sorry!
I'm with gracekelly. Summer finally arrived in SF and I've been working the white pant/ black top/ splash of color with accessories. So easy and tasteful!
ReplyDeleteNow every time I look at "potential" new clothes I tell myself "Think MT!"! And I know I'm not the only one...
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing your printed chiffon blouse. Is it new? It looks lovely.
In our lunch break, we have organized a MaiTai party today. We all eat canapes and discuss the capsule pieces concept. There are also questions from my dear colleagues (it seems I am their speaker lol): is there any chance to relaunch the coral coloured cluster necklace? (I know the answer, but they obviously think I am not relevant for it, lol). Is there any possibility to have your waterfall necklace in some other colours, like dark beige or dark red in the future? They also have a proposal for MT TV - to show your necklaces with the same clothes and bracelets as well - we expect Cecilia to be helpful in that mission and the outcome might be interesting. Many regards from the bunch of ladies enjoying your site in my office :-)
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear you enjoyed the update of the capsule pieces, many thanks for leaving such a lovely feedback, my dear hair-mess, Yogirl, Lilian, Bourbon & Pearls, Trudye, une femme, Penney, gracekelly, Manuela, ‘A’,Karletta, booksnchocolate and Lilian’s colleagues!
ReplyDeleteHere’s to black and trusted pieces, my dear hair-mess!
Thank you, Yogirl :)
Congrats on your successful capsule shopping trips, my dear Lilian, and happy to hear the concept works so well for you <3
Oddbod garments which don’t get any wear can truly dampen the spirit.. happy editing, dear Bourbon and Pearls!
Zen and the Art of Closet Maintenance, what a great title, my dear Trudye! How about ‘capsule peaces’ <3 PS. I love nothing more than your comments, please don’t ever shorten them xx
Have a fun time organising, chère une femme!
Congrats on streamlining your wardrobe, dear Penney! Keep cool in the heat, and have a great rest of the week too x
Raspberry espadrilles! Gasp, my dear gracekelly, I NEED those! Love the reverse b&w combo too, and chin-chin to black and reds!
So well put, my dear Manuela, we all know how it feels! Good luck on re-organising, and yay to easy and peaceful mornings! <3
Dear A, many thanks for the very good point, I have added the descriptions to the post straightaway!
Enjoy the summer and your chic b&w ensembles, dear Karletta!
Editing before buying is the way to go, my dear booksnochocolate, leaving us all the more €€ for H too, lol! The blouse is new indeed, well spotted my dear!
Wish I could have joined your party, dear Lilian. A big hello to your colleagues, so nice to hear you are having such fun! Re Ms Coral, the answer you already know is correct. As for the waterfall, I am working on different colours right now, and if all goes well, they’ll make a debut in a couple of weeks time. Love the suggestion for MT TV, many thanks to all dear ladies :)
In name of my dear colleagues (several of us in the company only, however very dedicated to your blog) I kindly thank you for your reply - so, there are new necklace colours to look forward to during our next canape party! As today is the day number 3, a new post must be waiting around the corner (my hopes at least)! Many hugs
ReplyDeletePlease hold a place for me at your next canape party, dear Lilian! Stay tuned, the new post is coming in a few minutes x
ReplyDeleteYour place at our canape party is always ready for you. I can only dream what a beautiful happening it would be! In the meantime, I have seen the new post and also the new bracelets, which are nicer than a dream, so unique, warm coloured, diversified, upmarket, I am quite surprised what our Mother Nature can create in terms of patterns and colours, in association with the skilled human hands! I am amazed how many of them look as if made from many thin and beautifully arranged horn layers. I seriously think any of those beautiful bracelets could easily find their place in Hermes, together with Lena necklace, it would be a nice horn party in Hermes! Thank you for adding such a nice dimension to horn, I have never paid too much attention to it, simply for the reason nobody, when producing the horn items, put so much care and dedication to find the very best horn source and top skilled artisans. Magic is in details, care and attention - you show it so clearly through your collection.
ReplyDeleteMy dearest MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteThank you for continuing to show us and teach us the importance of a good wardrobe foundation. On these three sheets, you have listed true essentials - all timeless and classic, and each that will become the best supporting friends for our beloved accessories. I love each and every one of your pieces - they all have the most beautiful cut! You have my utmost admiration and gratitude, dear MaiTai! Much, much love to you with big hugs xx
My dear Lilian and Scarf Enthusiast, I don't know how your lovely comments escaped a reply, I am truly sorry for getting back so late to your sweet and kind words. Extra big silky hugs to both of you <3
ReplyDeleteLilian, jumping right onto that sofa! You are so kind re the bracelets, the lovely and detailled description filled me with pride and joy. Thank you so much, my dear <3
Dearest Scarf Enthusiast, you are so very gracious and generous, I can’t tell you how much your lovely comments mean to me. Sending you much love x
