Yesterday's weather was picture perfect, and so we decided to have lunch at the beach instead of making roast chicken at home. The
temperatures were so mild that it felt like mid-summer, while looking out to
the mediterranean sea always puts me into a holiday mood.
I dressed in cotton trousers, a silk top, and wore 'Fleurs d'Indiennes' tied into a sash
Accessories: Hermès 'Fleurs d'Indiennes' 90 Carré, MaiTai Collection horn bracelet in ecru , MaiTai Collection waterfall necklace in ecru, Hermes Picotin bag in rubis
Scarf tying method: Scarf folded in the basic bias with ends secured behind the back. I used a grande MaiTai Collection horn scarf ring, but you can also tie the ends together in a double knot
For lunch, I had a mixed sashimi and prawns,
followed by most delicious Coquilles St Jacques (fresh from nearby Bouzigues)
There wasn't much room left for dessert, but the coffee was accompanied by just the right amount of sweetness..
And below one of my (so far best) attempts at making a macaron, recipe to follow once perfected.. (re-posting from facebook)
A lovely looking macaroon! I've just purchased the Pierre Hermes recipie book-I hope my attempts work out as well!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, dear tara! Looking forward to exhanging notes. The above needs to be a bit flatter, so the 'dough' has to be more liquid next time..
DeleteSitting in front of the ocean enjoying a meal or just a cup of coffee is one of the things I miss mostly living abroad!... The first picture took my breath away! Your meal looks so delicious but the most delicious of all is your /macarron!!!Pistache? I can´t wait to try the recipe. But then, my dear, I think you have golden hands :-) there is perfection in everything thing you make. Love your Spring/Summer look! Have a lovely week ahead. Blowing a kiss to you, Manuela.
ReplyDeleteSitting in the restaurant and looking at the sea never fails to take my breath away too, especially since I have spent most of my life living far away from it! The macaron is raspberry flavor, I just made spring green shells instead of pink ones. Bisous to you x
DeleteOh look at that gorgeous blue sea! And the same color is referenced in your 'Fleurs Indiens' carré. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteMerci, dear déjà pseu! The rapport between scarf and sea was a happy coincidence :)
DeleteOh wow the sea looks looks so lovely and BLUE!! Your macaroons look like a very good attempt to me - brava! Love the summery outfit - still waiting for summer here - but (and I hope you don't mind me saying) isn't your scarf Fleurs d'Indiennes rather than Coupons? Still just as lovely though! SA:-)
ReplyDeleteJoining you in waiting for summer.. it feels like October today, the Mistral is howling around the house! Many thanks for pointing out the typo, so glad I could make a swift correction.
DeleteWhat a lovely meal, and I don't even do raw fish. The scallop makes me drool though.
ReplyDeleteI just want to thump someone at H on the head since none of the colorways in that scarf worked for me. So beautiful but so unflattering with my pale skin and red hair. Sadly, that's more common than I'd like.
What a great day trip!
My dear Laura, there might be still hope, I have seen some CWs in the giant version (140x140) which are rich, but not as bright as the 90s. The design comes out beautifully too, it has so much space to breathe!
DeleteOh,what a wonderful way to spend the afternoon!.The sea, your outfit, the menu and even the macaroons all blend beautifully in this vignette of your life in the South of France! All so yummy! Good luck with the baking, but be careful...you might start getting orders for this little bite! Happy baking vibes, T xx
ReplyDeleteHappy to send you a batch anytime, my dear friend! Better still, I'll deliver it myself, and we can have a scarf party au même temps. Let me know when the bubbly is iced! <3 x
DeleteJust the perfect meal and scenery for Spring time.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous as always my dear. I'm drooling over this delicious meal and I can't wait for the "perfected" macaroon recipe to try at home.
xx
Tania
Nothing puts me more into a summery mood than a visit to the beach, my dear Tania, wish you could have joined us <3
DeleteEpater les bourgeois! And I still COVET that carré!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll come across the FI one day, fingers crossed.
DeleteC'est un rêve. )
ReplyDeleteMerci, Lara. C'était une vraiment belle journée :)
DeleteWhat a perfect lunch: food, scenery and all. You look wonderful! Love scarves worn as a sash, instant glamour, no problem with windy outdoor weather and great for dining. Please let us know how when you have discovered the perfect way to make macaroons, one of the delicacies I have no experience in baking.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bienchen. So true re the sashs, they are easy and fabulous! Have not had the time to progress further in the baking department, will have to wait until DS returns to school!
DeleteThank you for this trip to the lovely sea. We are in recovery here in Oklahoma from our little tornado so extra grateful to be reading this. I have already decided that part of my personal recovery will be purchasing a commemorative la femme aux semelle de vent!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry to hear! Very much hoping that no one was hurt, and that there wasn't too much damage. Your sense of humor in all this is inspiring, hope everything is safe and will be back to normal soon.
Deletei live over on the other side of the mediterranean and i so know exactly the feeling of a mini-escape! nothing beats a relaxed brunch by the bluest sea or a breezy dinner as the sun sets. it always makes me feel like i've been on a vacation for a few hours!
ReplyDeleteand your macaron looks pretty good to me! that's my next culinary challenge...
Hello, dear neighbour! Here's to mini-escapes and the mediterranean, and to happy meals on the beach!
DeleteBeautiful look Mai Tai! May I ask you a question about your handbags? Do you change your bag for the warm summer months, perhaps something rattan? Or do you just use your lighter colored bags? Is one of them what you would call your workhorse, the one you use predominantly?
ReplyDeleteThank you, emilyatheart :) Re the bags, I stick with them throughout the year. In winter, I mostly use my larger formats (Birkins), as I feel they are in a good balance with a winter coat, and the black and brown I have work well with most of my outfits. Comes spring, I love to bring out my colorful bags, which are also small and light enough to carry on hot summer days. As I like wearing black in summer as well, the ebene Kelly or black Birkin (probably my most used bags) work all year round :)
DeleteIt looks like such a lovely day out MaiTai! Here we are having hailstorms and rain and it's certainly not warm enough to be eating outside, so it's lovely be there by the beach with you in spirit. :) Your outfit is just stunning too, so summery and simple yet elegant. That really is a gorgeous scarf too, and I love your use of the special MaiTai accessories. :) I can't wait to have the recipe for the macaroons too!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely, sunshine-filled week,
Melusine x
Hope the hailstorms have made way for beautiful and sunny days by now, my dear Melusine! It is such a joy to have you girls in spirit with me, everytime I take my camera out I think of you <3 Have a lovely weekend!
DeleteWe are in the midst of a rain soaked week here in Sydney, could use some blue sky and beach!! What a perfect spot for a long languid lunch. And hooray for twins with Ms fleurs d'indiennes. Axo
ReplyDeleteAww, but you have a long scarf wearing season to look forward too! Hope the rain has turned into crisp, silk friendly temperatures by now. FI twin hugs to you x
DeleteDearest MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for a glimpse of your beautiful blue ocean and for sharing your lovely picturesque lunch with us - there is nothing more appetizing than enjoying a wonderful meal al fresco. And how gorgeous and delectable your macaron looks - perfection. Of course, dear MaiTai, you are so beautiful in your fresh and summery outfit - how exquisite is the FdI in a sash belt. Sending you much love and big sunshine hugs xxx
My dear sweet friend, so happy you enjoyed the pictures! Al fresco meals are my favorite ones too, and a beautiful compensation for the less favorable scarf weather which sometimes accompanies them. But then, other ways to wear our treasures come to mind, I hardly ever think of tying a scarf into a sash during winter. Here's to seasons, and the wonderful changes they bring xx
ReplyDeleteHi MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteI love your gorgeous look in this outfit. Could you tell who makes the silk top? I've tried to find a similar look, but it was unsuccesful so far. Thank you.
It is by Pucci :-)
DeleteThank you, dear...
