Today's style challenge has been sent in via email by Angelique (who also submitted a wonderful and ingenious guest post on scarf weights a while ago)
Many thanks for sending the question, dear Angelique. It is true, because of it's dark brown background and black border the 06 CW does not have the appearance of a typical spring/summer collection scarf, and presents more of a challenge to create a summery look.
Starting off by applying one of my favorite principles, which is to produce a rapport between the scarf and rest of the wardrobe. This gives the scarf a purpose, and avoids the impression that a 'winter scarf' might have got mixed up in the wrong season.. Next, picking a wardrobe piece or accessory which has a summery feel, to make sure the overall look is in harmony with the season too.
In the capsule #58, I chose a brown belt, bag and sleeveless top (which picked up on the scarf's background color) and a white pair of jeans and turquoise bracelet (for a summery touch).
Today opting for a canvas in black, in rapport to the scarf's border color. To a certain extend, the cut of the clothes (3/4 length trousers, a short-sleeved or sleeveless top) already provides a touch of summer, and to emphasise further, I chose a waterfall necklace in aqua... not only a quintessentially summery color, but also a perfect match to the race track colour of the Circuit 24 Faubourg!
Capsule pieces: black trousers and tank top
Hello MaiTai,
...
I too, have the Circuit 24 in my collection in the same colours as you do.
I found the colours and the design very appealing, but sadly I have never worn it since the day I bought it.
I really do not know what to wear with it. Your capsule #58 was a first step, but please continue a bit more with this scarf.
I'm sure it will be very challenging, this is a difficult one!

That necklace is gorgeous, and a perfect fit for the scarf.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask what lip colour you're wearing in this picture? It's really lovely with your skin.
Thank you, dear Frances! Re the lip color, I hardly ever use just one solid color. It's usually a mix of soft lip liner applied all over, followed by a a different color lipstick or gloss (I sometimes use two different lipsticks, one coat with each). I like mixing lip colors, it gives a natural result, and it's fun to create your own shades. Over time, one gets to know the various liners and sticks really well, and what effect they have on each other. In this case, I used a liner by Elizabeth Arden (no 1, pink writer) followed by a coat of 'Hug Me' lip stick by MAC (at least this is as far as I remember.. will try to pay better attention next time!)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to second Frances in agreeing that the waterfall necklace in aqua is perfect with your new birthday scarf. When I first saw this Circuit 24 Faubourg, is was in a different colorway, which I was not at all fond of, but I do like the colorway 06, that you chose, dear. The contract between the rich brown and the turquoise/aqua is very striking. A very nice summery outfit, dear.
ReplyDeleteYes, ITA with MAC lipsticks, and how well they blend with other colors. 'Hug Me' blends quite nicely with one of the lighter Viva Glam shades.
Enjoy a wonderful rest of your weekend, dear.
Warm orange hugs,
CS
My dear CS, it is always so lovely seeing you here <3 The CWs of this scarf were incredibly varied indeed, resulting in so many different athmospheres.. I adore the black/white version too (pictured in the last FSH update, looking très elegant and chic in the b/w window), but couldn't pull the orange/red border off. Have a wonderful week ahead my dear x
DeleteLove this post, dearest MaiTai! Both looks are perfect and you have just given me some great ideas about how to combine my aqua waterfall necklace, which I love, with some blue scarves I have.
ReplyDeleteThe colour of the necklace is perfect on you, emphasizing the beautiful colour of your eyes :)
Thank you for all the inspiration you give us.
Sending you lots of sunshine and hoping you are having a wonderful weekend too. M xx
My dearest Manuela, So happy to hear Ms Aqua is going to have some fun new pairings and outings! Many thanks also for the lovely compliments, you are so a very sweet, generous and gracious. Wishing you a most wonderful week ahead xox
DeleteLove this black and aqua look Mai Tai. I don't usually think of black in summer but you make it look stunning. Jolene in Brisbane
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Jolene. Black is one of my favorite colors, and even though I wear it more often in winter, I love it in summer too (especially when travelling, or in combination with white)
DeleteWhen I first saw this scarf online, I wasnt' too sure about it. But when you point out the methodology behind making a scarf into an outfit, it makes total sense! I love how this scarf ties.
ReplyDeleteThe online pictures are sometimes quite different from how the scarf looks and feels IRL, and I agree, the Circuit ties truly beautifully! It also is wonderful in the cowboy knot, looking very much forward to wearing it this way in autumn.
DeleteThis is a lovely summery look and I think I was speculating when you first showed it whether it would lend itself to summer looks. So glad to see it work so well with more turquoise/aqua.
ReplyDeleteI remember our conversations so well, dear Bienchen. Still searching for that turquoise dress!
DeleteIf Angelique ever wants to sell this scarf, I would happily buy it. I cannot find it in this colour scheme - alternatives are available but are not to my liking...it's simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best of luck in finding it! I have not seen it previously on h.com, but it's currently available at the US site: Circuit 24 Faubourg CW06
DeleteLove the black palette with turquoise accessories. Very chic!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, my dear Gina!

DeleteDon't think I've ever seen anyone wear a fully black outfit in such a summery way! You're truly the best inspiration - always, but in this case very much so for all the black clothes lovers out there. <3 Thanks for making me lust for another scarf btw. Husband is not sending regards. :D Macs
ReplyDeleteChampagne toast from one lover of black to another! LOL re DH, and big hugs to you x
