In July and August, millions of
sunflowers greet passers-by along the country roads, always with their beautiful heads turned in unison towards the sun.
I
snapped this field on the way to a meeting, and when getting dressed
for going out to dinner in the evening, I reached for the Presentation
de Cheveaux in sunflower yellow. The nights are still very warm, so I decided on the cool and loose drape knot.

DeleteSeeing the sunflowers makes me smile and think of them as little children with their heads dozing in the warm sun. I have read your blog for years but alas, am finally taking the time to thank you. ReplyDeleteSuch a warm, lovely glow -- both you AND the PdeC! It is summer here in San Francisco too, but that means fog and chilly nights. I have been trying to decide which cozy dip dye to snuggle into! I've been looking for the brown and black Brides de Gala (inspired by an earlier posting of yours, of course), but it is nowhere to be found. Then the aubergine/lie de vin caught my eye, but ... too far from neutral. Wandering into our local H boutique, I found IT. The 140 cm dip dye "Bouclerie" in charbon/encre/vert. It has the whole marron/black thing going on -- with a bit of chestnut and blue as well. The "vert" is a deep khaki that is much more grey than green, and the whole is wrapped in an aubergine border. Far from compromising, I feel that I got everything I was looking for in one! "Tout est pour le mieux dans le meilleur des mondes!"

ReplyDeleteHere, it is far too hot and humid for silk but I did entwine my 140 coton with my horn necklace and drape it around my shoulders to accommodate both the heat and the draughty air conditioning.

I have been doing something inspired by this, but think it is about time for me to get some of the scarf rings (rather than tying the scarf directly onto the dress strap -- which is OK, but not so polished). I am wondering which size scarf rings are most appropriate for this (so that I can order them before you go on holiday). Also looking forward to visiting that vintage scarf shop when I'm back in Paris after the new year. Susan
