September in Paris

Last week in Paris, the weather could not have been more perfect. One could wander the streets in wonderfully fresh late summer air, and yet it was mild enough to enjoy coffees and lunches on outside chairs and terraces.

In preparation for the upcoming autumn and winter, I brought my Jumping boots along (pictured above, nesting in their dust bags), to get them fitted with new soles. Instead of taking them to H for the repair, I went to see a cobbler recommended by the Roger Vivier boutique, which is where they take their customer's shoes for after-sales services. Looking forward to seeing the result, and will post details and pics once I get the boots back.

While meandering through the art galleries around the Rue des Beaux-Arts and the Rue de Seine in St-Germain, we came across the tiny but charming 'Gabriel-Pierné' square'. It has a beautiful fountain,

and lovely stone benches, which are sculpted like books.

    1. Thank you for the good wishes, my dear Trudye! Will pick the boots babies up in a few weeks, and hope they have been treated well. Went to RV to collect my re-soled patent beauties, and should not have looked around... there was a pair of grey flats I couldn't take my eyes off. Resistance was futile! Autumn hugs to you, my friend x

  4. Dear tai, what a lovely little square, and very near cire trudon as well, which I will be heading to on my trip. Do you mind me asking, are the soles on the jumping boots leather or rubber. I plan to soon buy a new pair of boots, ( church's, not Hermes, but still rather expensive ), and wondered what your inion is. Hope you don't mind me asking.
    Best, tara.

    1. Dear Tara, have a wonderful upcoming trip! Went to Cire Trudon too..now that autumn is coming, it is so lovely and cosy to have a scented candle burning. Re your question, I had the jumping boots re-soled in leather on previous occasions, but am trying ultra thin (1mm) half rubber soles this time. I wear them mostly outdoors, and although rain is not that much of an issue in our climate, a leather sole can be slippery. I hope the new soles will make walking even better, as this is what these boots are meant to be for (humming as I'm typing) :-)

  7. Looks like a perfect autumnal day, beautiful view, too.

I hope the resoling goes well. I find leather soles are useless for the autumn weather in the UK, so it is rubber/vibram soles all the way for me.

  15. Dearest MaiTai,
Thank you so much for sharing your special time in Paris with us. It must have been pure heaven to wake up to such beautiful morning view of Paris - your room is truly so lovely. Wherever you are, there is beauty and harmony - the wonderful flavors of the room could not be more perfect for the favorite Bastide Travel Pochette and our twin CI <3 How fun are the 'open book' benches, but now I'll always think of them as 'MT's Scarf Travel Pochette benches.' As always, you look so very very gorgeous, dear MaiTai. Keeping my fingers crossed for your Jumping boots, hope you'll be pleased. Wishing you a most happy and joy filled special weekend <3 Sending you lots of love and big autumn hugs<3 xoxo
