In today's
post I planned to include my beautiful new scarf or shoes in some way,
but when I woke up this morning and saw this magnificent sky,
there was no way I could have resisted picking the 'Puzzle II' scarf instead

With
temperatures around 20˚ celsius this week it felt like spring, and it
was wonderful to leave the house without a coat. My orchid seemed to
feel the same way and finally decided to come back.

ReplyDeleteOh you have much more gardening talent and skills than I do! Orchids are easy to maintain..if they get once a week a simulated rain forest shower (filtered or bottled water) and don't have to sit in excess water, they are happy as can be!

Don't you think that seasons prior to 2010 (to be more specific - ending with 2009) were somehow different and used to bring numerous fabulous styles each season, while it seems that now we do not have the same scarf design power in the season? Or it is just me, trying to select the nice, strong, powerful design and dream about past times...well, getting older, it must be that :-)

DeleteRe your question, I agree... much has changed in the recent few years. Loved the year of India and felt slightly guilty back then for buying so many scarves. In retrospective, I wish I bought a few more! There are still a lot of scarves from the post 2009 collections that I love, particularly those by Aline Honoré, and a few others which have a modern and graphic look. I've even come to enjoy some of the bolder colors! In general, it has become more difficult for me to find design/color combinations I love. C'est la fête was a wonderful surprise this autumn, and makes me hope there is more to come. I guess I am getting older too!
Although maybe not very many of your readers will read this reply, since there are new beautiful posts coming now, I must echo your above Reply and say I am sooo much sad when I remember Year of India and my stupid ban which I stupidly imposed to myself! My husband was talking all the time:"Buy the scarves, as they are available now, you don't know for tomorrow." I was almost laughing at him, as I was so sure there were as many nice scarves to come. However, I also see that it is more and more difficult for me too to find the "right one", the scarf I really like, same feeling and trouble you have. I have a long list of my "sorry to have missed" scarves, beginning with all cws of CenC, going through Aux Pays des Epices, and them Madame at Monsieur, Puzzle, etc, etc, and I had the opportunity to buy all of them, just thought the nicer options should come along the way and I should save my money. Well, if it is the sign of age, I feel I am so very "aged", as I made too many misses and my husband continues telling "I was talking to you..." and he is true and it is making me feel even more miserable. Namely, shouldn't husbands be here to stop our shopping, not to encourage it?! Sigh. Lea

DeleteI tried this knot out today. It is perfect for keeping snug this time of year:). Also wanted to tell you and any readers about a tv programme that aired in the uk last night (Friday) on bbc tv at 9pm. it was the first of three about French gardens, there was a segment about the hermes roof garden, it is such a beautiful and tranquil space. I think it will be on the bbc catch up online for uk viewers? You will have to keep us informed about the status of the orchid! Tara.

ReplyDeleteI have just spent an hour or two trying out your 'hacking know' with a variety of scarf shapes and sizes. Wonderful! I can see that I can get many more uses from several scarves.... for example I tend to keep the long oblong "pashmina" shapes to use as wraps but I have now found that they work well in the hacking know.
I love scarves and am embarrassed to say I own around 55. But I find that I wear some some more often than others because I have not taught myself sufficient knots. I am working my way down your list trying out each knot.

So nice to hear you are having fun with the tutorials, dear Judith! The hacking knot is indeed ideal for oblong scarves, and so is the above weave knot. Hope you'll find a favorite ways for each of your scarves (no need to be embarrassed, you are in very good company here..)!
