ReplyDeleteI notice that you seldom wear 3/4 length pants (or what they call capri pants), what are your thoughts on these shorter length pants? Do you find them difficult to work with too? Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
I do wear them from time to time in summer, although most of mine are 5/8 lengths. My favorite way is to combine them with ballet flats :-)

ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not yet a scarf typing ninja, like you Madame Maitai; I stalk-your-style and must try your rectangular fold with my own silkies, with our on-coming sping-summer.
I cannot rival you in style, but, perhaps, inspired by you and the FSH windows, I'll be leader of my local fashion pack. ;)
Last year, I finished caring for my father, and wanted to go out often but my wardrobe desperately needed an overhaul-Madame Maitai, you are terrific as a style guru... Love your blog and many ideas!

Particularly for the fact it is the one scarf I really miss a lot from my collection...but on the other hand, I am so sure I will never find it, therefore it brought peace of mind to me...
All that knowing that cool neutrals would not work for me, I think...it can only be love, don't you think so?

Love it is, my dear Lea! The Aux Pays des Epices is a chameleon though, as it has warm and cool parts. Depending on what goes with it, and which parts are near the face, it is always possible to bring out one or the other... I hope it will become part of your collection one day (and hope the same will be true for all the other lovely ladies who are looking for it!) Warmly, MT

In spite of all my hopes, Hermes has never, since I learnt about this scarf, issued any comparable cw of this design. Namely, I find this colour combo particularly elegant, subtle and fine.

I'm drooling over the neutrals, dearest MaiTai! Such a fabulous look. I wore something very similiar yesterday, but replacing the taupe with a light tan, and wearing my Mors & Gourmettes in soft white cw and MT shawl ring. I received a look as if I had arrived from Mars. That's the issue I face living in the sticks, but nevertheless, I carry on, inspired by you, dear. Such a lovely look, dear, along with a perfect shade of taupe (you know how I adore taupe!) in your cardigan.

DeleteAccording to Victor Bergeron, founder of the Trader Vics restaurants and creator of the Mai Tai cocktail, in Tahitian it means "the best." I remember reading this on their menu and thinking how appropriate for our MaiTai. ; - )

Although my clothing choices are a bit limited (with a knee immobilizer on...) I know that at least I can draw inspiration for new ways to wear my silks! Thank you!

ReplyDeleteLately I find myself trying to use my scarves as a border, base, or underlayer for my clothing. For example, peeking out from the boat-neck collar of a dress, lining the front lapels of a blazer, or providing coverage and warmth under a v-neck (a/c is cold in corporate America!). This is a departure from the knot-tying I have learned so well on your site. It requires a new skill that is related to folding, layering and placing the scarf just right, so that it peeks out without bunching, moving, or becoming uncomfortable. I do not know if I am being clear, nor whether this challenge is compelling, but I thought I would share it, because I'd love to know what you might imagine.

Oh what a great challenge, thanks so much for submitting, dear SSJD! Our summer is still in full swing, with temperatures far too high to even contemplate combining scarves with blazers or v-necks.
