Every year the skiing holiday is a different experience. If snowstorms and blizzards are
raging, much time is spent reading or playing games by a cosy fire.
This year though, the skies were blue and the snow fantastic, so it was very active, with much time spent on the pistes!
We were so lucky that the snowfall came mostly in the evenings and at night
The
next morning we usually woke up to blue skies, great snow and a village
which looked like it had been decorated with wedding cake icing
A little café beckons with a beautiful view...
but DS encourages us with great enthusiasm to go straight past...
Wardrobe pieces: black roll neck sweater and ski suit
Accessories:
Hermès 'C'est la fête' 70 carré, Clic H enamel bracelet in black
Shoes: ski boots
Scarf tying method: Cowbow knot
Dear MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteWarmest welcome back, and so glad you and the family had a wonderfull time.

A mystical and magical Winter Wonderland it was!
DeleteAh, dear friend, it looks as if you had the best of times and skiing conditions! Love the way ou accessorize your ski togs...perfect! We had tons of snow and beautiful sunny days for the most part, too! Need to send your DS to ski with my DH! He headed down an eight mile run and I headed to the spa! Cheers to blue skies and Spring just around the corner...have a great weekend! Mwah, T xx
ReplyDeleteSo great to hear that you had a fabulous time! And yes, let’s get our men together and toast to spring! x

ReplyDeleteSimone xx
Missed you too! It’s been a fabulous and happy time, and it’s also so lovely to be back x
DeleteBeautiful landscapes - when I see you pictures I kind of wish I'd ski ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a very HAPPY weekend, too! :-)
You could always book a winter resort holiday without hitting the slopes, it’s so lovely to sit in the sun, read a book and enjoy the beautiful views.
DeleteHermes is much more glam than my Alp n'Rock attire! Lovely as always.
ReplyDeleteAlp n’Rock!! Love it! :-)
DeleteWelcome back, MaiTai! What spectacular scenery. I like the wedding-cake rooftops. Sun, exercise and fresh air are just what one needs mid-winter. You look happy and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo true re the sun and exercise, a perfect ‘wake up’ to spring!
Deletelooking good is so HOT here!
ReplyDeleteRan into, not literally, tons of Aussies in Telluride! Sat next to a group of 21 at lunch on the slopes one day! They were luffing their holiday escape from the heat and made for lively and spirited lunch companions...great fun! Hope your temps start to cool off soon! T
DeleteThrowing a snowball your way, dear FF. Hope cool weather is on it’s way!
DeleteTrudye, Would love to have joined your lunch, it must have been such fun!
Beautiful. The high snow on the roofs, the chalets, the blue skies... I remember waking up when on ski vacation, looking out the window, seeing a blue sky and having the immediate urge to hit the slopes. You look elegant and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteTanja
Mornings like this is are just a dream… it’s more difficult to get going when waking up to a snowstorm!

ReplyDeleteDear Mai Tai,
Looks that you have enjoyed your trip to the Alps, wonderful pics!!!!
And it's clear that you have a gift, you always look beatiful, poised and chic whatever you were!!!
We have missed you a lot!!!!
Can’t wait to see your spring capsules...
In the meantime in my short trip to Lisbon and after a nice “bicca” in La Brasileira I discover the Hermès store just in front of us... pure serendipity!!!!!
As I have told you my “coup de foudre” for this SS was “Au coeur de la vie” and in spite that “ "De la mer au ciel “ was a nearest competitor... at the end it was “Au coeur de la vie” in rose vif/orange/violet that I brought home... (Ref. H002235S 09)
So I wonder if you can play you magic again and suggest some capsule combinations...
As always thanks in advance for your kindness.
Regards from Barcelona
Dear Ilsa,
DeleteI´m glad to hear you enjoyed a ´bica´ (the way Portuguese from Lisbon call an espresso) at ´A Brasileira´. I am Portuguese myself, though from the North. Kind regards, Manuela
Moito obrigada!!!!
DeleteDear Manuela,
I was thinking that you origins were either either Spaniard, as myself, or Portuguese..
Every time we visit Portugal we were amazing but how kind it's everybody from the cab drivers, the Hotel personnel, andjust the ordinar people that e meet in Restaurants, Markets ..
Our next trip will be to Porto.. we simply can't miss the most beautiful bookshop in the world !!!!
Pity there isn't any Hermès store arround.......
Regard from Barcelona
Dear Ilsa,
DeleteHola!
Thank you for your very kind and sweet words regarding the Portuguese people.
I come from Porto though I haven´t lived in Porto for many years.
Livraria Lello & Irmao is indeed a very beautiful bookshop.
There are many things to see in Porto but please make sure you visit Café Majestic (Belle Époque) and the Stock Exchange.
Kind regards, Manuela
Oh congratulations on your beautiful new scarf, dear ilsa! We are cousins, mine is a mousseline PM. Your trip sounds wonderful, and how lovely to have such a great souvenir to remember it by. Suggestions to come!
DeleteSo wonderful to have you chiming in, dearest Manuela! Hope to visit Lisbon and Porto one day, and will make sure not miss the bookshop and Café Majestic <3
DeletePlease MaiTai can you tell us where you took these photos. For years we've been skiing in Alpbach and it looks like where you skied is not far away. Thank you for sharing your holiday with your readers.
ReplyDeleteHello Judy, We skied in the Haute Savoie, but I can imagine that the pictures evoked memories of the Austrian part of the Alps!
DeleteOh it looks incredible as do you, it's tough to look chic on a ski trip, I usually look like red nosed yeti.
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky with the weather.. although February, it wasn’t very cold. So no red noses this year!
DeleteWelcome home! You have been missed, though you brought us lovely "gifts", your photos, as always. Thank you for sharing. Xo
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the lovely welcome back, dear Pam x
DeleteWonderful to see you back Dear MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteAlthough so many are, understandably, fed up w all of the snow and cold here in Canada, your photos are absolutely divine! I can't believe how tall DS is, he appears to be an adult. Wonderful phrase, "Chalet chic", you do look so effortlessly elegant where ever you are. I'm so looking forward to Part II. Thank you so much for sharing.
Maisie
DS has shot up so much recently that I keep thinking ‘who is this?’ when he enters the room. Another few months, and he’ll be my height.. Hope the snow and ice make soon place for a lovely and happy Spring!
DeleteWelcome back dear MaiTai. We've missed your beautiful face.I'm so glad you had such a marvelous holiday and I'm so looking forward to your new elegant posts (as always!!!haha)

I´ve already tried my magnets and really enjoyed wearing the scarf tied in the basic bias fold under a blazer with the small magnets. Love the look!

ReplyDeleteNow this is what I call snow, and unlike here in the US, I bet they didn't have to make one flake of it!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a lovely getaway, and I'm betting that you had to pry DS off the slopes. It's such a beautiful place. It almost makes me want to take up skiing again . . . well, on second thought, not a good idea!
We're very happy to have you back. I'm not sure we'll let you leave again.
