Skiing - part I

Every year the skiing holiday is a different experience. If snowstorms and blizzards are raging, much time is spent reading or playing games by a cosy fire. This year though, the skies were blue and the snow fantastic,  so it was very active, with much time spent on the pistes!

We were so lucky that the snowfall came mostly in the evenings and at night

The next morning we usually woke up to blue skies, great snow and a village which looked like it had been decorated with wedding cake icing

Nothing better to start the day than a buttery croissant and a grand café crème

A little café beckons with a beautiful view...

but DS encourages us with great enthusiasm to go straight past...

Alpine equivalent of street musicians

Wardrobe pieces: black roll neck sweater and ski suit
Accessories: Hermès 'C'est la fête' 70 carré, Clic H enamel bracelet in black
Shoes: ski boots
Scarf tying method: Cowbow knot

The night's snowfall is cleared to get the terrace ready for lunch

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

xx

    1. Ran into, not literally, tons of Aussies in Telluride! Sat next to a group of 21 at lunch on the slopes one day! They were luffing their holiday escape from the heat and made for lively and spirited lunch companions...great fun! Hope your temps start to cool off soon! T

  11. Beautiful. The high snow on the roofs, the chalets, the blue skies... I remember waking up when on ski vacation, looking out the window, seeing a blue sky and having the immediate urge to hit the slopes. You look elegant and relaxed.

  12. Dear Mai Tai,

Looks that you have enjoyed your trip to the Alps, wonderful pics!!!!

And it's clear that you have a gift, you always look beatiful, poised and chic whatever you were!!!

We have missed you a lot!!!!

Can’t wait to see your spring capsules...

In the meantime in my short trip to Lisbon and after a nice “bicca” in La Brasileira I discover the Hermès store just in front of us... pure serendipity!!!!!

As I have told you my “coup de foudre” for this SS was “Au coeur de la vie” and in spite that “ "De la mer au ciel “ was a nearest competitor... at the end it was “Au coeur de la vie” in rose vif/orange/violet that I brought home... (Ref. H002235S 09)

So I wonder if you can play you magic again and suggest some capsule combinations...

As always thanks in advance for your kindness.

    Regards from Barcelona

I´m glad to hear you enjoyed a ´bica´ (the way Portuguese from Lisbon call an espresso) at ´A Brasileira´. I am Portuguese myself, though from the North. Kind regards, Manuela

    3. Dear Ilsa,

      Hola!
Thank you for your very kind and sweet words regarding the Portuguese people.
I come from Porto though I haven´t lived in Porto for many years.

Livraria Lello & Irmao is indeed a very beautiful bookshop.
There are many things to see in Porto but please make sure you visit Café Majestic (Belle Époque) and the Stock Exchange.
      Kind regards, Manuela

  16. Wonderful to see you back Dear MaiTai,

Although so many are, understandably, fed up w all of the snow and cold here in Canada, your photos are absolutely divine! I can't believe how tall DS is, he appears to be an adult. Wonderful phrase, "Chalet chic", you do look so effortlessly elegant where ever you are. I'm so looking forward to Part II. Thank you so much for sharing.

  24. Now this is what I call snow, and unlike here in the US, I bet they didn't have to make one flake of it!

It sounds like you had a lovely getaway, and I'm betting that you had to pry DS off the slopes. It's such a beautiful place. It almost makes me want to take up skiing again . . . well, on second thought, not a good idea!

We're very happy to have you back. I'm not sure we'll let you leave again.
