FSH winter windows - part I of II

Hermès' winter windows in the rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré were full of playful juxtapositions... almost every display featured either a Gulliver sized bag, jacket or pair of boots, or the tiniest shoes and boots imaginable. There was also a saddle that could only fit a miniature horse, and a coat as long as a wedding dress train. The oversized items made anything arranged right next to them appear tiny.. a pair of regular Jumping boots placed along side a huge Convoyer bag looked as if they are a toy soldiers', whereas a pair of tiny suede boots made a 35 Kelly look like a travel bag. In the photos it can be difficult to see which of the objects are the real size, and some are more obvious than others. On top of the staircase to the first floor, visitors were greeted by an oversized Kelly...without placing my 35 Birkin in front it would have been difficult to capture it's size!

    A caravan of dreams,to be sure, darling MT! I love the playfulness here! Thank you for explaining the proportion, as it is difficult to see! Good grief, one could almost hideaway in those giant bags! Given the scale, I am curious to know if the same standards applied to the making of the giant bags, as to the real life ones? If so, hope none of the ladies of Le Salon have orders pending for any one of the leathers/skins pictured here because it may take a little longer than usual for it to appear! Lol !
    Beautiful eye candy for all! The RTW is stunning,too! Red croc...oh, my!
    So hoping you are on the mend,MT, and that posting these pics cheered you as much as they have me! Cannot wait to see tomorrow's post!

      Feeling much better, thank you, my darling T! The giant bags looked just as fabulous as their regular sized siblings, incl. perfect saddle stich et all. It would certainly explain any delays on pending orders! The proportions are very much impossible to guess based on pictures alone, it could always be the other way round too! And since it's H, the easiest way round has not necessarily been chosen.. In the third pic, the bracelets are of a regular size, but the shoes minute. Making oversized bracelets instead would have taken a fraction of skill and time! Mwahs and have a wonderful Sunday xx

    Très chère Maitai contente de lire que tu vas beaucoup mieux .J'espère que le vent n'as pas fait de dégâts chez toi .
    Il est vrai que c'est difficile de voir la grande taille des sacs tellement ils sont parfaits .Vitrines magnifiques comme d'habitude .Je suis impatiente de voir les prochains posts

    These colors almost make me ache, they are so beautiful. The assortment of taupe colored envelope clutches is incredible and the red shoes are very pretty. Thank you. I am really inspired by the color scheme of these windows. Have a good week.

    Lovely! Thank you for sharing these photos. In Vancouver the windows are displaying gigantic paper origami animals. A fox, an elephant, a horse . . .. If I could figure out how to attach them I would but as I can't they are posted on my instagram (scaramouchine).

    Dearest MaiTai - the displays always have such a luscious combination of textures, and you photograph them so well. Oh, and I will take BOTH pairs of red shoes; they are just gorgeous. Glad you are feeling better!

    Sorry, Fifi and Greta, I already grabbed those red croc pumps. Yea, sure I did :-)! But, at least I got to see them thanks to MT's photographic skills.

    The windows are truly luscious, and no one does windows like Ms. Menchari. I just wish it was possible to buy what's in the windows, but that's always a no-can-do. All that goodness is just there to tease us.

    I was told that the bags that are made for the window displays aren't finished on the interiors, and that's another reason they can't be sold. Heck, I might not even mind!

    MT, thanks for taking the time to photograph all this beauty.

      First it was the necklaces and now the goodies in the windows...snatched up by you,Jerrine! What are we going to do with you? LOL !
      Love the color combo of the taupe and red together,too! Somehow the juxtaposition of the the sizes really makes me giggle...big shoe,little shoe,etc.! What the heck! They are all lovely!
      Kittens could live in one of the giant bags or even a giant shoe;-)

      Yes, Trudye, I'll try and steal one of those giant bags for the kits to live in when next in Paris, sure! They'd be living in much higher style than I do. They're lucky to be getting heated purr pads, little ingrates.

      And, thanks for sending the sun today. Yesterday it was very glum and raining all day, and there's nothing worse than rain on a Monday to snarl traffic even further.

      Fifi, I don't know if that's fact or just a bit more of the famous Hermès myth and lore, but I do know from experience that you cannot buy something from the window . . . I tried at FSH. I was met with a very disdainful look.

    How wonderful -as always- to accompany you at FSH! Really beautiful colors and materials!
    I have to tell you, that I could make a bargain buy recently, because I found "L'arbre de vie" as a silk carré. I had an eye on it for some time and now I'm so happy I got it! At this occasion I noticed, that I miss pictures of your "L'arbre de vie, cashmere shawl" ....

    I love the envelope shaped leather pouches in picture 7. But I can't find them on any of the Hermes' websites..? Do you know where I might find information on sizes, codenumbers and prices?

    Love all the pics in your blog Mai Tai. Do you know what kind of leather the Kelly is in the last picture? I love how slouchy it is. So beautiful.
