Winter holidays

Skiing holidays are always unpredictable... the weather can be anything from mild and sunny to icy temperatures and raging snowstorms, so packing covers a range of clothes, as well as books and games for entertainment, just in case. This year we were snowed in for most of the time, with the exception of just two mornings, when the storm clouds suddenly cleared to reveal the brightest and most beautiful blue sky. The snowfalls during the night before had covered the pistes with fresh and powdery snow, which made those two mornings truly exceptional, and the trip more than worth it in the end.

Much of our time was dedicated to après-ski, or should I say après-read... Drinks and chocolats chauds after long mornings or even whole days spent by the fire reading a book/having fun on Instagram.

Ready for the piste, wearing my Zebra Pegasus 90 carré tied in a Cowboy knot

Of course, DS didn't mind the weather and was ready to replenish burnt-off calories at any time

It was wonderful to come back home to blue skies, almond blossoms and mild temperatures. Some daring trees even started to give their new foliage a peek into the outside world..

Wearing my Brides de Gala Dip Dye, in reminiscence of DS's hot chocolate..

Capsule wardrobe pieces: ecru top, light beige cardigan and blue jeans/checked wool trousers
Accessories: Hermes 'Brides de Gala' Dip Dye 90 carré,  Kelly Double Tour bracelet in ebene with GHW and a Kelly 32 in Ebene.
Shoes: suede ankle boots/beige patent pumps (25 Belle Viviers)

For a casual alternative, replacing the checked trousers with jeans

Have a cosy remaining winter and a great upcoming spring everyone xx

  1. Dearest MaiTai, it's so nice of you to take us along on your trips - I just "re-lived" your snowstorms, licked yummy hot chocolate from my lips, raced down the piste in powdery snow and then cuddled into my blanket. And now I'm smelling spring with almond blossoms...your pictures are so vivid that it doesn't need a lot of imagination!
But I do have one daring question- aren't you worried to get sunscreen lotion on your beautiful scarves? I don't dare to wear them on such occasions...
Thanks again for a set of amazing photos:)
    Have a wonderful week,
    Katja

    1. Dearest Katja, I am so fortunate to have you swans, and to re-live all the best moments again with you! Re your question... it was SO cold (-16 celsius), that I decided to wear a mask under my helmet. Think Darth Vader ;) Have a wonderful weekend x

  2. No matter the activity, dearest MT, it looks as if you made the most of your ski holiday!
Your pictures of the snow are beautiful indeed. Watching a snowstorm, while tucked inside by the fireplace, is so relaxing!
Beautiful slope side style, too, as always! I have often wondered the same as Katja regarding the sunscreen. Look forward to your answer!
Have a fab week and, once again, thanks for taking us along! Mwahs, T xx

  3. So enjoyed seeing your ski vacation photos! We were in Colorado for the first week of February, and it snowed like crazy most of the week. Great skiing for powder lovers, but it was cold! Do you worry about your silk carrés getting wet in the snow?

    1. Sounds as if we had very similar weather! I don't worry about the scarves getting wet, and once you close the jacket they are pretty safe.

  4. As always, you're one luscious snow bunny! I will play the "Let It Snow" clip again and again in August when it's 99.9999 degrees here. I'm sure it will have a very cooling effect :)

And, I see that spring has arrived in Provence. I want to be on the next plane to see if for myself.

    Love to you,
    Jerrine

PS - Katja, you little daredevil, you. But, hey, I'm interested too!

    1. Snow! Snow! Snow!

It's unseasonably warm here in Southern Alabama--so much so that I had to run the AC yesterday! So it's lovely to live through someone else's winter vacay and shiver in anticipation of going out into the cold, then the comfort of running back to the warm inside, greeted with hot chocolate.

I'm interested in the sunscreen question as well! Inquiring minds want to know!

    2. Oh Jerrine, how I wish you would hop onto the next plane!

Stay cool, dear Greta. What's happening with the weather, it's barely March!

  5. Thanks for taking us along on your ski vacay. We only had one snowstorm this year, so I particularly enjoyed the video clip. Doesn't Mother Nature realize that I need cold weather in order to wear my favourite furs and cozy sweaters? Isn't it all about me? Haha! We actually headed out to Aspen in order to get our snow "fix". Have you ever been there? I think you'd enjoy the combination of Aspen's glamour and rustic charm. I do look forward to spring with the anticipation that you'll share the lovely images of Provence and Paris. As always, have a stellar week!

    1. Hope you are having a most wonderful time in Aspen, and that the snow is fresh and plentiful! I've never been there, but would love to one day (only that skiing with a jet-lag might not be the wisest thing to do). Bon ski and have a great weekend!

  9. Dearest MaiTai, I always enjoy your photographs and these are no exception. It looks as if you had a good time away despite the snow storms. It is lovely to sit inside warm and cosy with a glass of hot chocolate and watch the beautiful powdery landscape, isn´t it? The picture of the almond blossoms is lovely! I wish we could see that Spring is on its way here too but I guess I´ll have to be patient.... After all it´s only February...
Have a wonderful weekend, my dear. Big hugs from me, Manuela xx
