You always manage to color match so well! Love that burnt orange color on you x
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, my dear CSW! x
DeleteWow! You have inspired several new looks for me. Alas, I must confess...too darn hot to wear a scarf! But, I will tag these looks and save for cooler days;-) So very clever to tie the looks to the H windows and shop your closet! Inspired grande hugs for a good week ahead, T xx
ReplyDeleteSo grateful to Leïla Menchari and her team for the inspiration! It’s hot here too today, the only scarf this afternoon was a pareo...Stay cool my friend, and have a wonderful remaining week <3 xx
DeleteDear Mai Tai,
ReplyDeleteI notice that you seldom wear 3/4 length pants (or what they call capri pants), what are your thoughts on these shorter length pants? Do you find them difficult to work with too? Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
I do wear them from time to time in summer, although most of mine are 5/8 lengths. My favorite way is to combine them with ballet flats :-)
DeleteYou are so sweet! Do you mean 7/8 (longer than 3/4)?
DeleteYes, I meant 7/8! They always turn out a bit shorter on me anyway :-)
DeleteThe lament of us taller girls...:(
DeleteBarbara A
LOL <3

ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not yet a scarf typing ninja, like you Madame Maitai; I stalk-your-style and must try your rectangular fold with my own silkies, with our on-coming sping-summer.
I cannot rival you in style, but, perhaps, inspired by you and the FSH windows, I'll be leader of my local fashion pack. ;)
Last year, I finished caring for my father, and wanted to go out often but my wardrobe desperately needed an overhaul-Madame Maitai, you are terrific as a style guru... Love your blog and many ideas!
Many thanks, and best wishes. Mandy
What a hard and difficult past year it must have been, my dear Mandy, warmest hugs to you <3 I am so glad you enjoy the posts, and wish you a wonderful upcoming spring.. filled with wardrobe fun and happy scarf playtimes!
DeleteBeautiful pictures, gorgeous looks, both of them and, you know, 'Aux pays des epices' will always be one of my favourite scarves.
ReplyDeleteLove the whole post, dearest MaiTai. Have a wonderful day! M xx
Merci, my dearest Manuela! Hope you are having a most fun and fabulous remaining holiday <3
DeleteThank you, my dearest MaiTai. I am. Love, M xx
DeleteI'm a big fan of this neutral look on you. Well done! XO, Jill
ReplyDeleteLove neutrals too, dear Jill. All the best x
DeleteSo clear - you showed us how both, warm colouring and cool neutrals can work for you (and probably for other persons), if selected carefully.
ReplyDeleteI always like seeing Aux Pays des Epices on you.
Particularly for the fact it is the one scarf I really miss a lot from my collection...but on the other hand, I am so sure I will never find it, therefore it brought peace of mind to me...
All that knowing that cool neutrals would not work for me, I think...it can only be love, don't you think so?
Lea
Love it is, my dear Lea! The Aux Pays des Epices is a chameleon though, as it has warm and cool parts. Depending on what goes with it, and which parts are near the face, it is always possible to bring out one or the other... I hope it will become part of your collection one day (and hope the same will be true for all the other lovely ladies who are looking for it!) Warmly, MT
DeleteThanks for informing me...though, I cannot say it made me happy, actually, it made me even more nostalgic about this scarf.
DeleteNamely, I hoped to close the chapter with "there are mostly cool colours, I do not need it therefore, the scarf surely, surely would not fit me for that reason" :-)
How clever, isn't it? If you cannot have it, then find the best way to forget it :-(
In spite of all my hopes, Hermes has never, since I learnt about this scarf, issued any comparable cw of this design. Namely, I find this colour combo particularly elegant, subtle and fine.
If I cannot have it - then congrats to you!
You look beautiful with it!
Best, Lea
I'm drooling over the neutrals, dearest MaiTai! Such a fabulous look. I wore something very similiar yesterday, but replacing the taupe with a light tan, and wearing my Mors & Gourmettes in soft white cw and MT shawl ring. I received a look as if I had arrived from Mars. That's the issue I face living in the sticks, but nevertheless, I carry on, inspired by you, dear. Such a lovely look, dear, along with a perfect shade of taupe (you know how I adore taupe!) in your cardigan.
ReplyDeleteWarm orange hugs, dear.
CS
Your outfit sounds absolutely lovely, my dearest CS! I have no doubt that the look was an admiring one <3 Love how the windows inspire us all ~ taupe and orange hugs to you x
DeleteDear MaiTai,
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty in all your looks, but I especially like the cool neutrals. Like Manuela, 'Aux Pays de Epices' is a favourite as well.
So looking forward to your travelogue to Berlin!
MaiTai, may I ask is this your given name or a nickname? It is so pretty. Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Many thanks, Simone
Thanks for such a wonderful
Dear Simone, you are so sweet <3 MaiTai is not my given name or nickname, but a wordplay based on it. Phonetically it reads ‘My Tie’ (tie = knot) Hope you’ll enjoy the upcoming Berlin posts, and have a wonderful rest of the week too!
DeleteI like that...very clever MaiTai :)

DeleteAccording to Victor Bergeron, founder of the Trader Vics restaurants and creator of the Mai Tai cocktail, in Tahitian it means "the best." I remember reading this on their menu and thinking how appropriate for our MaiTai. ; - )
DeleteI never knew the cocktail's meaning, my dearest Marla <3
DeleteThrough google, I found Victor Bergeron's account on his creation:
Wikitender: Mai Tai
Because of the tahitian origin, the pronounciation of the cocktail is 'my-ta-ee' instead of 'my-tie'. After having a few, you would hardly notice the difference though! ;-) xx
:-)))
DeleteYou look like yummy vanilla meringue in those neutrals! The Espices is sophisticated and cool in this CW.
ReplyDeleteYou have continued to brighten my days with your posts. I just had surgery on that broken knee last week...and I'm hobbling around like an old relic. Although my clothing choices are a bit limited (with a knee immobilizer on...) I know that at least I can draw inspiration for new ways to wear my silks! Thank you!
BTW, I am curious as is Simone about "Mai Tai"!
Barbara
So very glad the surgery is behind you, my dearest Barbara! Hope all went well, and that the recovery will be as quick and smooth as possible! Sending you warm get well hugs x

ReplyDeleteI began to find long jackets for winter but all in cashmere...
When returning from Greece I will serously look for that, because I love them since I saw them on you.....
Rain today refreshing I feel really better..

Monica
We had rain too yesterday, it was so very refreshing and wonderful! Wish it would have lasted a bit longer...! Love the cashmere versions for winter too. Bonnes vacances, ma chère Monica <3
DeleteA new challenge for you, talented MaiTai:
ReplyDeleteLately I find myself trying to use my scarves as a border, base, or underlayer for my clothing. For example, peeking out from the boat-neck collar of a dress, lining the front lapels of a blazer, or providing coverage and warmth under a v-neck (a/c is cold in corporate America!). This is a departure from the knot-tying I have learned so well on your site. It requires a new skill that is related to folding, layering and placing the scarf just right, so that it peeks out without bunching, moving, or becoming uncomfortable. I do not know if I am being clear, nor whether this challenge is compelling, but I thought I would share it, because I'd love to know what you might imagine.
Kind regards,
SSJD
Oh what a great challenge, thanks so much for submitting, dear SSJD! Our summer is still in full swing, with temperatures far too high to even contemplate combining scarves with blazers or v-necks. Looking very much forward to experimenting with this in early autumn though. With thanks and warm regards, MT
DeleteI can't wait to see this challenge! It's as though the scarf could be worn as a camisole of sorts! Love it!
DeleteBarbara A
All we need now is some cooler weather, and the fun can begin!
DeleteMT, you are the definitive 'smart casual' dresser! Always well done!
ReplyDeleteMerci! :-)
